Né en 1932, Viktor Efimovich Popkov est décédé en 1974 et s'est principalement inspiré des années 1950 dans la ville de New York, devenue le centre du modernisme à l'échelle internationale pendant la période d'après-guerre. De nombreux artistes s'étaient rendus dans la ville en fuyant en exil d'Europe. Cela a conduit à une mise en commun substantielle de talents et d'idées. L'expressionnisme abstrait, une forme de peinture qui explore les notions de spiritualité et de sublime, a dominé les années 1950. Born in 1932, Viktor Efimovich Popkov passed away in 1974, and was primarily inspired by the 1950s. New York City became the focus for modernism on an international scale during the Post-War period. Many artists had travelled to the city fleeing in exile from Europe. This led to a substantial pooling of talent and ideas. Abstract Expressionism, a form of painting that explored notions of spirituality and the sublime, dominated the 1950s. He concentrated on the formal properties of painting, and action painting was influenced by the political freedom of the United States, as opposed to the strict strictures of the Soviet bloc. The male dominated environment has been subsequently revisited to acknowledge the contributions of female artists such as Lee Krasner, Joan Mitchell, and Louise Bourgeois, amongst others.
