Le peintre américain Eric Sloane est surtout connu pour ses paysages aérés et idylliques. Il est né Everard Jean Hinrichs le 27 février 1905 à New York, NY, et s'est intéressé à l'art après avoir travaillé dans la typographie et la peinture d'enseignes. Il a pris le pseudonyme d'Eric Sloane pour se dissocier de son travail antérieur, moins réussi. Aujourd'hui, une de ses œuvres majeures est conservée dans la collection Smithsonian Air and Space Museum à Washington, DC, « Earth Flight Environment Mural », et sert d'hommage au paysage du sud-ouest américain. Il est décédé d'une crise cardiaque à l'âge de 80 ans le 5 mars 1985 à New York, NY.

American painter Eric Sloane is best known for his airy and idyllic landscapes. He was born Everard Jean Hinrichs on February 27, 1905 in New York, NY. He became interested in art after working in typography and sign painting. He took the pseudonym Eric Sloane to disassociate himself from his earlier, less successful work. Today, part of his work is kept in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC, which houses one of his major works, the Earth Flight Environment Mural which serves as a tribute to the southern landscape of the American West. He died of a heart attack at the age of 80 on March 5, 1985 in New York, NY.
