La peintre suédoise Eva Bonnier est née en 1857 à Stockholm. Fille de l'éditeur Albert Bonnier et membre d'une grande famille, elle a étudié la peinture avec August Malmström et est devenue étudiante dans la section féminine de l'Académie royale des arts de Suède à Stockholm en 1878. Avec son amie Hanna Hirsch, elle a été à Paris de 1883 à 1889 où son tableau "Musique" a reçu une mention honorable au Salon de Paris. De retour en Suède, elle fut active comme peintre jusque vers 1900, principalement de portraits. Puis, elle se consacra à son travail philanthropique, grâce à sa richesse héritée, et créa une fondation pour l'embellissement de Stockholm et finança des peintures et des sculptures pour des lieux publics et des institutions, telles que la Bibliothèque royale et l'Université de Stockholm. Bonnier qui souffrait de dépressions fréquentes, s'est suicidée en 1909.

Swedish painter Eva Bonnier was born in 1857 in Stockholm.
