Le peintre allemand Otto Pippel naît le 10 février 1878 en Pologne. Il deviendra un impressionniste important de son pays. Inscrit à l'École des arts appliqués de Strasbourg en 1896, il s’enrôle dans l'armée russe. Puis, il poursuit ses études de 1905 à 1907 à Dresden et, en Crimée, il s’installe à Planegg près de Munich en 1909. Il se rend à Paris, où les impressionnistes français le stimulent. Sa première œuvre est un petit paysage d'hiver à Munich. Après la première guerre, Il retourne à Planegg et crée une œuvre considérable. Maitre de la couleur, Pippel peint dans un style parfait. Il meurt 17 mai 1960 chez lui.

The painter Otto Pippel was born to German parents on February 10, 1878 in Poland. He will be an important impressionist of his country. Enrolled in the School of Applied Arts in Strasbourg in 1896, he was enlisted in the Russian army. He then continued his studies from 1905 to 1907 in Dresden and, in the Crimea, he settled in Planegg near Munich in 1909. He then went to Paris, where the French impressionists encouraged him. His first work is a small winter landscape in Munich. At the start of WW1, he returned to Planegg, and created a considerable body of work. Master of color, Pippel paints in a perfect impressionist style. He died May 17, 1960 in Planegg.
