La peintre française Marie Laurencin naît en 1883. Désireuse de devenir peintre sur porcelaine, elle s'inscrit à l'école de Sèvres et à l'académie Humbert où elle suit des cours de dessin notamment de Georges Braque. Elle participe au salon des Indépendants et rencontre Picasso et Guillaume Apollinaire avec qui elle mène un amour passionné jusqu'en 1912. Femme libre pour l'époque, elle réalise "Groupe d'artistes". Alors qu'en 1913 ses tableaux se vendent hors de France, elle expose aux côtés de Marcel Duchamp à l'Armory Show de New York. Elle s'exile en Espagne jusqu'en 1919 et revient à Paris en 1921. Laurencin reçoit la Légion d'honneur en 1935. Elle décède en 1956 d'une crise cardiaque.

The French painter Marie Laurencin was born in 1883 and wishing to become a painter on porcelain, she enrolled at the Sèvres school and the Humbert academy where she took drawing lessons, notably from Georges Braque. She took part in the Salon des Indépendants and met Picasso and Guillaume Apollinaire with whom she had a passionate love until 1912. A free woman for the time, she produced "Artist Group". While in 1913 her paintings were sold outside France, she exhibited alongside Marcel Duchamp at the Armory Show in New York. She went into exile in Spain until 1919 and returned to Paris in 1921. Laurencin received the Legion of Honor in 1935. She died in 1956 of a heart attack.
